The Malta Youth Hostels Association, or MYHA, is a membership association by which
a number of persons team up so that by their concerted effort they would have a number of homes in Malta away from their normal
home.
MYHA members are the owners of MYHA properties and as owners they
do not pay rent. No owner pays rent for the dwelling he owns and opts to stay in. However, while
in the youth hostel, residents share in the expenses connected with the hostel like the utilities, repairs and maintenance,
kitchen and cleaning, laundry and administration expenses. The overnight fee, decided collectively, includes these expenses
but not the rent. The share in the ownership is obtained by enrolling as a member and the application accepted.
Through their representative committee they keep these houses in good condition, comfortable
and with at least the minimum basic services.
